Colorectal Cancer

Colorectal cancer is the 4th most commonly found cancer among all types of cancer. However, its fatality rate has significantly decreased in the latest years because of the availability of a screening test called “colonoscopy”.

There are generally four stages of colon cancer treatment at Vejthani Hospital in Thailand. The initial treatment and diagnosis of polyps that haven’t grown beyond the inner lining of the colon is sometimes considered as stage 0.

A lot of people might misunderstand that blood in the stool is only a sign of hemorrhoid so they ignore it, but the truth is, blood in the stool is also a sign of colorectal cancer. 

A colon polyp is a small growth that occurs in the lining of the colon. Normally, it is harmless but over time, around 3-5 years or more, some polyps might develop into colon cancer. It is usually found in people aged over 45 years old.

Daily practices, especially bad eating habits such as consuming fast foods; high fat, low fiber foods, alcoholic beverages or smoking regularly are common factors leading to colon cancer development. Most of you are already aware of these unhealthy behaviors but continue to do so because you thought that you are far from acquiring cancer.
